Government resources are limited however, so we are sponsoring an International support project which will bring children from around the world together and broaden their minds. If you are a school, a children’s playgroup or similar organization and would like to donate a desk to a Mafia Primary School please send us your details and let us know how many desks you would like to donate. We will select a school which we think is most in need, deliver the desks and email you some photographs of the school and the children. Most importantly we will insist that the children who benefit from the desk write a letter of thanks to the children who donated it.

This support project is not simply a request for money. The idea is that the children will interact with each other and build a relationship from which they will all benefit.

Using the core timber from the centre of the coconut stem we produce school desks. The wood is cheap, the design is robust and we use local artisans and hand tools in manufacture. The result is a strong, 3-seater desk – better and more affordable than other available alternatives.  The desks are designed for mass production and are sold to schools, District Councils and other Government bodies.

Sustainable development in Tanzania can only be achieved through competitive commerce and industry.
Mafia Island has twenty eight Primary Schools. School desks are expensive and in short supply, many of the children study whilst sitting on the floor.
